Long-Term Visitor Visa (3 Years)

Long-term visitor’s visas are issued to foreign nationals who wish to reside/work in South Africa longer than ninety (90) days, and provided that they will within one of the prescribed categories.

This may apply if s/he:

R

Is an accompanying spouse or life partner to a foreign national who holds or qualifies for another valid South African visa.

R

Is an accompanying child to a foreign national who holds or qualifies for a valid South African visa.

R

Partakes in an academic sabbatical which is supported by the educational institution with which s/he is currently involved.

R

Is teaching at an international school.

R

Is involved in films and advertisements produced in South Africa.

R

Is conducting research activities, and can show proof of financial support for the stay in South Africa.

R

Is an artist who wishes to perform, write, paint and/or sculpt in South Africa.

R

Is a tour leader or host of such tour.

R

Is the spouse or life partner of a South African citizen/permanent resident (includes work or business endorsement where offer of employment or proof of business registration is available)

A long-term visitor’s visa in any of these categories may be issued for a period of up to three (3) years. This application must be submitted to the South African High Commission/Consulate/Embassy from the applicant’s home country or country of temporary residence.
